Takeover and turnaround
Solytic
A solar monitoring SaaS taken over after an asset acquisition, restructured hard, and still shipping features.

Headline result
~75%
Infrastructure spend cut
- Industry
- Solar PV monitoring software
- Service
- Technical takeover after acquisition, cost restructuring, ongoing maintenance and development
- Headline
- Infrastructure spend cut by around 75% with no loss in reliability
The Problem
After its acquisition, Solytic had to keep running and keep improving on a fraction of its previous cost base, without customers experiencing the transition as a downgrade.

What We Did
A full audit of cloud services and tooling, then systematic removal of everything not carrying its weight.
- Infrastructure resized to actual load
- Redundant services and overlapping tools removed
- Provider contracts renegotiated
- Product scope sharpened so the team could focus on the monitoring platform
- A lean development and support process, with documentation kept current so knowledge is shared, not siloed
- Ongoing maintenance and feature development, with the roadmap aligned to the new parent organisation
The Result
Infrastructure costs fell by around three quarters while the platform kept meeting its obligations and shipping updates on schedule. This was not a wind-down. Solytic still runs, still develops, and can now take on larger customers in new industries than before.
Most SaaS cost problems are not architecture problems. They are accumulated defaults nobody has audited. Reliability held because nothing load-bearing was cut.
